Abstract
ELIGIBILITY FOR DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COMMUNITY CORRECTIONAL CENTERS WAS DEFINED AS THOSE PERSONS WHO WOULD BE GOOD RISKS BUT NOT THOSE INELIGIBLE FOR IMMEDIATE PAROLE. OBJECTIVES OF THE CENTERS WERE VOCATIONAL TRAINING, COUNSELING, AND ADDITIONAL EDUCATION. THE CENTERS RANGED IN SIZE FROM 20 TO 60. THE RATIO OF RESIDENT TO STAFF RANGED FROM ONE TO ONE, TO SIX TO ONE. MEASURES OF ADJUSTMENT TO THE CENTERS INCLUDED RECIDIVISM, ABSCONDING, PAROLE OR PROGRAM VIOLATION, UNEMPLOYMENT, COMMUNITY ADJUSTMENT, FAMILY PROBLEMS, AND DRUG OR ALCOHOL DEPENDENCY. CHARTS AND DIAGRAMS INDICATE A BIBLIOGRAPHY AND A STATISTICAL BREAKDOWN OF OFFENDERS COMMITTED TO THE COMMUNITY CORRECTIONAL PROGRAMS....BS
