Abstract
THE MANUAL CONTAINS THE PHONE NUMBERS OF ALL POLICE, FIRE, MILITARY, AND EMERGENCY RESCUE UNITS SERVING THE ERIE COUNTY AREA AND GIVES DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTACTING EACH. A MAP SHOWS THE BOUNDARIES OF EACH JURISDICTION. THE SECTION ON TELEPHONE TECHNIQUES AND PROCEDURES TELLS HOW VARIOUS TYPES OF EMERGENCY CALLS ARE TO BE HANDLED AND GIVES INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUMMONING AID FOR DRUG OVERDOSE CALLS, SEXUAL ASSAULTS, ATTEMPTED SUICIDES, AND OTHER SPECIALIZED EMERGENCIES. A FINAL SECTION SHOWS HOW TO FILL OUT THE COMPLAINT CARDS. THE 911 NUMBER IS THE MAJOR SOURCE OF CONTACT FOR CITIZENS WITH EMERGENCIES. THIS MANUAL EMPHASIZES THE IMPORTANCE OF THE DISPATCHER'S ROLE IN MEETING THESE NEEDS.
