This report presents the activities of Aerospace Corporation's Aerospace Development Group during 1975 in supporting NILECJ's Equipment Systems Improvement Program and translating equipment needs into practical systems for law enforcement and criminal justice operations.
Abstract
In 1975, activities included four general categories of effort; general program planning, analysis, development support, and special technical support and grant monitoring. Program plans were prepared for eight ongoing development programs, one new development program, and two new field evaluation programs. As part of the 1975 analysis effort, a list of candidate problem areas for survey and assessment was prepared, and priorities were assigned. In addition, a study to determine the utility of an advanced forensic science capability was performed, and support to the citizen alarm program was provided. Development support projects included a cost-effective burglary alarm system, the citizens' alarm system, protective body armor development, speaker identification, a cargo security system, blood and bloodstain analysis, control of illegal use of explosives, police patrol car system improvements, detection and analysis of gunshot residue, a body-armor field evaluation, and an improved citizen alarm field evaluation. Special technical support and grant monitoring activities included such tasks as special development and testing of designated equipment and technical review, evaluation, or monitoring of various NILECJ grants. Tables and figures are supplied. Three appendixes summarize correspondence, documentation, briefings, and meetings attended during fiscal year 1975. (Author abstract modified)
