Abstract
Within the context of risk analysis and intervention, Part 1 examines security system concepts and reviews the fundamentals of space detection, including indoor and outdoor intruder and movement detection and surveillance. Alarm communication and control is discussed, with a focus on alarm reliability and the cause and control of false alarms. Movement control of personnel and materials, vehicle security, and espionage and countermeasures also are explored. Part 2 examines the pros and cons and application of a variety of security products of interest to the security system designer. These include switching, passive and active infrared, ultrasonic, microwave radar and fence, microphonic, and field-wave sensors; closed-circuit television, door controls, signaling and control equipment, access controls, personnel and material inspection equipment; and power supplies. Installation, operation, and maintenance of security equipment and systems are discussed in Part 3. Also covered are user training, monitoring, and feedback. British standards for security equipment and systems are appended. Figure, photographs, and index.
