Abstract
THE ARTICLE INCLUDES A LIST AND DESCRIPTION OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS TO FOLLOW IN ORGANIZING A CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM: IDENTIFICATION OF COMMUNITY NEEDS, IDENTIFICATION OF RESOURCES, LOCATING SENIOR CITIZENS, AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN ONGOING PROGRAM. PROJECTS THAT HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA, AREA ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. THE AUTHOR CONCLUDES WITH THE PREMISE THAT CONFERENCES AND STUDIES ARE ESSENTIAL IN DEFINING ELDERLY CRIME PREVENTION AND ASSESSING PROGRAM NEEDS, BUT, MOST IMPORTANTLY, EFFORT SHOULD BE DIRECTED TOWARD ACTUALLY INTERFACING WITH THE AGED AND REDUCING THEIR FEAR AND MAKING THEM LESS LIKELY TO BE VICTIMIZED....KAP
