THE VICARIOUS THERAPY PRETRAINING CONSISTED OF A TAPE RECORDING OF ACTUAL SELF-EXPLORATORY RESPONSES MADE BY A MALE MODEL CLIENT AND A FEMALE MODEL CLIENT IN GROUP THERAPY.
Abstract
THE SUBJECTS FOR THIS EXPERIMENT WERE 36 FEMALES ENROLLED IN THE FLORIDA SCHOOL FOR GIRLS IN OCALA, FLORIDA. THE GROUP COUNSELING TREATMENT CONSISTED OF EIGHT ONE-HOUR SESSIONS WHICH MET TWICE EACH WEEK FOR FOUR WEEKS. THE SAME COUNSELOR CONDUCTED ALL GROUP COUNSELING SESSIONS FOR FOUR WEEKS. THE SAME COUNSELOR (ALSO THE AUTHOR) CONDUCTED ALL THE GROUP COUNSELING SESSIONS. THE STUDY FOUND THAT THE USE OF VICARIOUS THERAPY PRETRAINING DID NOT FACILITATE THE OUTCOME OF GROUP COUNSELING AND THE SEX OF THE MODELS IN VICARIOUS THERAPY PRETRAINING DID NOT DIFFERENTIALLY FACILITATE THE OUTCOME OF THE GROUP THERAPY.
