AFTER A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF AND RATIONALE FOR THE INCENTIVE PROGRAM, THIS ARTICLE OUTLINES THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND COMPENSATION REQUIREMENTS OF THE TUSCON (AR) INCENTIVE PROGRAM.
Abstract
THE TUCSON POLICE DEPARTMENT'S EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PROGRAM WAS DESIGNED TO PROMOTE THE TRAINING AND EDUCATION OF POLICE OFFICERS, AND TO REWARD MONETARILY THE OFFICERS POSSESSING VARIOUS LEVELS OF EDUCATIONAL TRAINING AND TO MOTIVATE THEM TO BECOME INVOLVED IN COMMUITY PROJECTS AND VOLUNTARY INSERVICE TRAINING PROGRAMS. THE CAREER ADVANCEMENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM PAYS AN OFFICER ADDITIONAL SALARY ON A PRESCRIBED SCHEDULE, BASED ON HIS OR HER ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS PROVIDING THE OFFICER ALSO OBTAINS FIVE TRAINING POINTS PER YEAR BY ATTENDING IN-SERVICE TRAINING SEMINARS, TEACHING IN-SERVICE TRAINING, OR WORKING IN AN APPROVED COMMUNITY PROJECT. THE TRAINING POINTS MUST GENERALLY BE ON THE OFFICER'S OFF-DUTY TIME. METHODS OF EARNING THE TRAINING POINTS THROUGH INSERVICE TRAINING OR COMMUNITY SERVICE PARTICIPATION ARE OUTLINED, AND THE METHODS OF COMPENSATION ARE DESCRIBED....DMC
