The incorporation of the subject of economics in secondary educational curricula is increasingly being urged by many educators and lay persons. This article proposes that the study of economics also could be included in educational programs in correctional settings.
Abstract
In this regard, the author discusses the recent experimental incorporation of applied economics -- via the Junior Achievement Model -- in one of his Adult Performance Learning classes. The reasons for its incorporation and a review of the program are discussed in detail. Furthermore, this article points out the viable inclusion of computers and software economic games in the Adult Performance Learning class. Economic variables and conditions are discussed in relation to their use in computerized economic games. (Author abstract)
