SUMMARY OF THE FINAL REPORT ON A PROJECT TO DEVELOP AND TEST A MODEL OF STATE AND LOCAL JUDICIAL EXPENDITURE TO DETERMINE WHAT FACTORS CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE WIDE VARIATIONS IN CURRENT STATE JUDICIAL EXPENDITURES.
Abstract
A STUDY OF EXISTING JUDICIAL INSTITUTIONS IN CALIFORNIA, COLORADO, CONNECTICUT, FLORIDA, LOUISIANA, TENNESSEE, TEXAS, AND WISCONSIN WAS UNDERTAKEN TO CONFIRM INFORMATION ON STATE AND LOCAL EXPENDITURES AND EXAMINE STATE-TO-STATE VARIATIONS. A BASIC REDUCED-FORM ESTIMATING EQUATION AND SPECIFIC EQUATIONS TO BE ESTIMATED BY LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT WERE DEVELOPED AND TESTED. THE IMPACT OF THE FINDINGS ON CURRENT JUDICIAL SERVICES FUNDING POLICIES IS DISCUSSED AND DIRECTIONS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH ARE PROPOSED....EB
