DESIGN FOR AN EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAM AT ALABAMA'S DRAPER CORRECTIONAL CENTER IN WHICH CERTAIN INMATE BEHAVIORS ARE REWARDED WITH POSITIVE REINFORCEMENTS.
Abstract
RECENT RESEARCH AND DETAILS OF THE PROGRAM ON BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION TECHNIQUES IS SUMMARIZED. INMATES IN THE PROJECT ARE GIVEN POINTS BY THE CORRECTIONAL STAFF FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF ASSIGNED TASKS, THE DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONAL SKILLS, AND PARTICIPATION IN AN EDUCATION PROGRAM. THE INMATES CAN THEN EXCHANGE THESE POINTS FOR SPECIAL PRIVILEGES. THE DESIGN FOR THIS TOKEN ECONOMY INCLUDES PROVISIONS FOR FOLLOW-UP STUDIES TO MEASURE ITS LONG RANGE EFFECTIVENESS.
