Abstract
This technical workbook, produced by the Robert F. Kennedy Children's Action Corps, provides practical guidance for State and local jurisdictions in their efforts to improve outcomes for youth involved with both the child welfare and juvenile justice systems and their families. The workbook is designed to accompany the recently revised Guidebook for Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare System Coordination and Integration: A Framework for Improved Outcomes. In 2008, the second edition of the Guidebook was used in four jurisdictions to implement strategies that improved the outcomes of dual involved youth. An important product resulting from these four jurisdictions was the development of a guide or manual detailing the process for handling the target population. These manuals formed the basis for this workbook, which aims to provide ideas, resources, tools, and guidance that can improve State and local jurisdictions' efforts to bring about long-term, sustainable improvements to both the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. The workbook has four chapters that contain tasks, activities and timelines that adhere to the technical assistance and consultation approach for implementing change. The guidance provided in this workbook is based on research, evidence-based practices, and the experiences of multiple jurisdictions that have worked towards implementing strategies for improving outcomes for dual involved youth.
