This is a step-by-step guide to a drug-free workplace.
Abstract
The document contains a model policy for a drug-free workplace and additional components that may be helpful in particular cases: (1) Employee Assistance Program (a way for troubled employees to seek help directly or for supervisors to refer employees whose problems are affecting job performance); (2) Training for Supervisors; (3) Education/Awareness for Employees; and (4) Drug-testing Program. Each section contains lists of national, State, and local organizations that can provide help or further information. There is basic information on drug-free workplace policy law; general requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988; Department of Transportation regulations; and the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990. Offices of state attorneys general are listed with their telephone numbers, as are the offices of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors.
