Possibilities for identifying and reducing drug use among drivers through legal and police control in Hungary are examined, with emphasis on the experience in Germany.
Abstract
The number of inexplicable and often lethal accidents in Hungary is increasing. Neither road conditions or weather can be blamed. No skid marks or signs of evasion attempts have been found. The basic facts are that young people drive recklessly and crash into trees. Blood and urine tests reveal that these accidents are typically drug-related accidents. However, this problem is not unique to Hungary. Germany experiences more than 500 drug accidents each year. However, they try to address the problem using different measuring instruments and legal solutions, which Hungary should consider.
