Abstract
The book is intended for use by law enforcement personnel and other persons in authority. Data in the book are not prescriptive or instructive in any manner and may contain inaccuracies. The book states that unintended or unauthorized persons who use these data in an unauthorized or improper manner assume full and unconditional risks/consequences of their actions. Three sections of the book are devoted to identification of tablets and capsules. The section on Controlled Prescription Drugs contains color actual-size photos of more than 800 prescription tablets and capsules that are controlled by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The section on non-controlled and over-the-counter drugs lists marking and logo information on approximately 13,000 items. The listing of pharmaceutical manufacturers provides a resource to identify an unknown tablet or capsule. In some cases data are included concerning how the drug is grown, produced, distributed, packaged for sale on the street, paraphernalia associated with its use, methods of ingestion, etc. The book lists more than 1,700 chemicals that may be used in the illegal manufacture of drugs, as well as a listing of Poison Control Center telephone numbers.
