COLLECTION OF ARTICLES CONCERNING DRUG DEPENDENCE AND ABUSE, ITS POSSIBLE CAUSES, AND METHODS OF STOPPING ITS SPREAD.
Abstract
THIS DOCUMENT FAVORS THE POSITION THAT EDUCATING OUR YOUTH TO THE HAZARDS OF NARCOTICS AND DANGEROUS DRUGS IS THE ONLY EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO THE DRUG PROBLEM. THE ROLE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT IN DEALING WITH DRUG ABUSE IS CONSIDERED BY SEVERAL AUTHORS. THE USE OF EDUCATION AS AN ALTERNATIVE OR EVEN SUPPLEMENTARY MEANS OF CURBING THE ABUSE OF DRUGS IS DISCUSSED. THE PROBLEM OF DRUG DEPENDENCE AND ABUSE IS EXAMINED FROM BOTH SOCIAL AND POLITICAL PERSPECTIVES. SELECTED ADDRESSES FROM THE SECOND NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON NARCOTICS AND DANGEROUS DRUGS WHICH WAS HELD IN 1970 ARE INCLUDED. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY, A LISTING OF AUDIOVISUAL AIDS, GLOSSARIES OF TERMS ASSOCIATED WITH DRUGS, AND A CHART LISTING DRUGS AND THEIR EFFECTS.
