This paper contains a list of books and websites that may be useful to researchers investing drug use, drug abuse and drug control.
Abstract
The paper includes books and websites that may be helpful in terms of public speaking, library acquisitions, research, reorientation of beliefs, and assessment of current policy, process, success, or failure. The paper claims that there are such things as useful, pleasurable and responsible drug use, as well as useless, damaging, and irresponsible drug use. Further, many of America's approaches to drug use and drug abuse are "puerile, ignorant, and vindictive." Policies of zero tolerance are counterproductive, worsen a horrible situation, waste public monies, corrupt agencies, and serve only the complex and unfair agency forfeiture acquisitions. Instead of the repressive and demonizing use of police, prosecution, and prison, justice requires compassionate uses of education, treatment, and rehabilitation.
