Drug Control Policy: Bibliographic Essay

Annotation
This bibliographic essay is a selective compilation and annotation of historical and contemporary literature on drug policies, with emphasis on books on the history of drug policy in the United States and other countries.
Abstract
The discussion notes that Taylor's 1969 book demonstrates how political and economic considerations have often prevented interested countries from establishing effective international agreements on drug control. David Musto's books of 1973 and 1977 are the most authoritative analyses of constraints on drug policy in the United States. Courtwright, whose book was published in 1982, is nearly as influential as Musto. Studies by the Rand Corporation are as inclusive as any others on contemporary United States policies. Most of the publications reviewed were published between 1980 and 1991.
