THIS TEXT CONSTITUTES THE FIRST COMPREHENSIVE EMPIRICAL STUDY OF THE CRIMINOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF DRUG ABUSE.
Abstract
THE STUDY ELUCIDATES THE FIELD OF DRUG DELINQUENCY, ANALYZES THE DRUG SCENE FROM THE SOCIOLOGICAL STANDPOINT, AND DEPICTS THE SOCIALLY EPIDEMIC DRUG ABUSE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE GENERAL CONTEXT OF JUVENILE CRIME. THE BASES OF THIS 3-YEAR STUDY ARE: INTENSIVE INTERVIEWS WITH 'FIXERS' OR JUNKIES (JUVENILE HARD-CORE DRUG ABUSERS WHO TAKE DRUGS INTRAVENOUSLY); A REPRESENTATIVE SURVEY OF 5000 STUDENTS FROM ALL TYPES OF SCHOOLS; DIRECT OBSERVATION AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS; AND AN ANALYSIS OF DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN RESEARCH. AFTER AN OVERVIEW OF METHODOLOGY, CHAPTERS DEAL WITH SUCH TOPICS AS DRUGS, DRUG CONSUMERS, DRUG SUBCULTURES, AND DRUG CONTROL. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE SYSTEMATIC AND EMPIRICAL DISTRIBUTION OF DRUG DELINQUENCY, DETAILED ACCOUNTS OF DRUG DELINQUENCY, DRUG CHARGES ON 'FIXERS', AND THE RELATION BETWEEN DRUG ABUSE AND DELINQUENCY. THE TEXT PROVIDES APPENDIXES AND A BIBLIOGRAPHY. (IN GERMAN)
