A SURVEY OF TESTS AND PROCEDURES USED IN CORRECTIONAL PRACTICE FOR CLASSIFICATION, IN WHICH EACH TEST IS BRIEFLY DESCRIBED AND ITS PURPOSE, ADMINISTRATION, SCORING AND INTERPRETATION ARE EXPLAINED.
Abstract
THE TESTS ARE CLASSIFIED AS TO WHETHER THEY ARE INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP, AND ACCORDING TO THE TRAIT MEASURED - CHARACTER AND PERSONALITY, INTELLECTUAL FUNCTIONING AND ORGANICITY, ACQUIRED SKILLS, VOCATIONAL APTITUDE, INTERESTS AND VALUES, AND SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT. AFTER A BRIEF DISCUSSION OF VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY, THE MONOGRAPH COVERS SUCH SPECIFIC TESTS AS THE CALIFORNIA ACHIEVEMENT TEST, THE BENDER-GESTALT TEST, THE JESNESS INVENTORY BEHAVIOR CHECK LIST, THE STANFORD ACHIEVEMENT TEST, AND THE OTIS-LENNON TEST. A SUGGESTED PROGRAM OF TEST AND ASSESSMENT FOR ADULT OFFENDERS IS ALSO INCLUDED. AN APPENDIX SUMMARIZES THE TESTS COVERED AND SUCH ITEMS AS PUBLISHER AND COST. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
