These four papers are intended to provide background information and technical assistance regarding the planning and establishment of techniques for deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing and identification in crime laboratories.
Abstract
The information is presented by the FBI Laboratory in generic terms so that it can be adapted to an individual laboratory's needs, based on existing facilities, the workload, and the anticipated personnel to be committed to DNA testing. Individual papers explain the methods used in the typing of DNA, the associated expenses, the information needed to obtain a Nuclear Regulatory Material license, and training considerations. An overview explains the FBI training and technical assistance efforts to transfer DNA technology to the crime laboratory community. Bibliography containing 65 listings grouped into 15 topic areas.
