Scientists, lawyers, and police met to discuss how DNA profiling, a recent high-technology device, has affected their areas of work.
Abstract
Developments in various aspects of DNA profiling were discussed including the inference chart concept, polymerase chain reaction, and satellite VNTR polymorphism. Other papers addressed the standardization of DNA profile reports, admissibility of DNA evidence, the relationship between law and science, and the procedures used in relation to DNA profiling at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) laboratory. Problems in quality control were examined in detail. For individual papers see NCJ 127661-127674.
