This report presents the 2000 edition of Utah’s Division of Substance Abuse Annual Report.
Abstract
The first section of the report presents information regarding treatment data, including demographic information of people seeking substance abuse treatment, referral sources, types of substances abused, and the outcomes of substance abuse treatment. The second section presents prevention data, in which public information is accessed to discover trends of substance abuse risk factors. Section three describes the substance abuse treatment services that are available throughout Utah. The fourth section presents an overview of the various studies and programs that have examined the problem of illicit drug use in Utah and describes a pilot study to better track clients of substance abuse treatment. The problem of prenatal substance abuse in Utah is examined, as is the Drug Overdose Prevention and Education (DOPE) program. The fifth section presents an overview of the substance abuse prevention techniques and programs that are being implemented in Utah, such as programs designed to promote the enforcement of youth tobacco access laws. A discussion of club drugs and the Utah State Incentive Grant is also offered. The final section discusses substance abuse treatment and prevention services that are available to Utah’s criminal justice population. A directory of local substance abuse treatment facilities and programs is also provided.
