DOCUMENTATION OF THE RESULTS OF A 1974-75 SURVEY THAT WAS CONDUCTED IN THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY COURT, AND A PRESENTATION OF THE STATUS OF FEDERAL LEGISLATION IN THE AREA OF VICTIM COMPENSATION.
Abstract
DESCRIBED IS A PROPOSED FEDERAL BILL ESTABLISHING STANDARDS TO BE FOLLOWED BY STATES ENACTING VICTIM COMPENSATION PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR FEDERAL SUPPORT. PRESENTLY OPERATIVE STATE COMPENSATION PROGRAMS ARE OUTLINED. TYPES OF ELIGIBLE RECIPIENTS, ACTS CONSIDERED COMPENSABLE, AND CLAIM REQUIREMENTS ARE CONSIDERED. SPECIFICALLY NOTED IS THE JUSTICE SYSTEM SURVEY DONE IN MILWAUKEE. THE ARTICLE CONCLUDES WITH RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A REALISTIC VICTIM COMPENSATION BILL. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)...KAP
