This manual provides local emergency management coordinators in Texas with current information and guidelines regarding the procedures and programs to be used for aiding individual and community recovery from the damage caused by a natural disaster such as a flood, tornado, or hurricane.
Abstract
The guidelines note that a lack of planning will result in a disorganized, expensive, time-consuming, and frustrating experience. In contrast, advance planning will allow the community to obtain the greatest possible assistance and a much safer place to live due to better construction and repair procedures. The manual explains how to assess damage and determine which assistance programs apply and how to request assistance from agencies such as the Small Business Administration, Farmers Home Administration, and Federal Disaster Assistance Program.
