A PAMPHLET FOR SMALL SHOP OWNERS WHICH OUTLINES THE PROBLEMS OF EMPLOYEE THEFT AND SHOPLIFTING, AND PRESENTS METHODS OF DETERRING AND DETECTING THESE CRIMES.
Abstract
THE PAMPHLET RECOMMENDS THAT ACCURATE RECORDS OF GROSS PROFITS AND TURNOVER BE KEPT, SO THAT ANY UNEXPECTED LOSSES CAN BE QUICKLY DETERMINED. METHODS USED BY SHOPLIFTERS AND DISHONEST EMPLOYEES ARE BRIEFLY DESCRIBED. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT CRIME PREVENTION BY MEANS OF GOOD VISIBILITY OVER THE SHOP AREA, ATTENTIVE PERSONNEL, AND STRICT RULES ON THE HANDLING OF CASH - IS THE BEST METHOD TO REDUCE LOSSES DUE TO CRIME.
