Intended to facilitate the exchange of information and the selection of appropriate automated records system, this directory provides information about information management systems related to corrections, courts, probation and parole, and prosecution, as well as information on the level of automation in criminal justice agencies.
Abstract
The directory includes agency description records, system description records, agency indexes, system indexes, and discipline-specific appendixes. The agency description records are based on information provided by individual agencies responding to SEARCH's national survey of criminal justice agencies, and the system description records reflect survey responses from system developers and vendors. For the criminal justice agencies, information is given regarding facilities, population served, admissions, types of cases, employees, computer hardware, automated functions, and computer software. The section on automated systems lists the product name and acronym, developer's name, address, telephone number, whether the software can be modified, whether the source code is available, the programming language, the hardware configurations, automated functions specific to the particular criminal justice area, and agencies that have obtained the product.
