STUDY INVESTIGATING THE HISTORY, IMPLICATION, AND RAMIFICATION OF THE CRIME OF RAPE AS IT AFFECTS THE INMATE AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE.
Abstract
THE HISTORY OF THE CRIME OF RAPE AND THE EVOLUTION OF PREVAILING ATTITUDES TOWARD THE VICTIM ARE TRACED. TRADITIONAL DEFINITIONS OF RAPE AND LEGAL PROBLEMS SURROUNDING THE PROSECUTION AND THE VICTIM ARE DISCUSSED. THE ATTITUDES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE POLICE, HOSPITAL PERSONNEL AND COURTS TOWARD THE VICTIM OF RAPE ARE DESCRIBED. THE FINAL CHAPTER ANALYZES EXISTING PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO AID THE VICTIM BY CHANGING THE EXISTING ATTITUDES OF SOCIETY AND BY INDUCING CHANGES IN THE LEGAL STRUCTURE. IN ADDITION, CURRENT PROBLEMS FACING THE RAPE VICTIM AND SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS TO THEM ARE COVERED.
