This training instruction pertaining to vehicular transportation security for dignitaries encompasses a route survey; selection of vehicles and drivers; motorcade equipment, inspections, and organization; protective driving techniques; and ambush countermeasures.
Abstract
The route survey focuses on an inspection and documentation of the most likely places and times at which an attack could occur on routes most often used. Route surveys include a detailed analysis of all likely points of attack and the identification of nearby facilities for safe refuge and medical assistance. A variety of nondistinctive vehicles should be alternately used on varied routes to and from the workplace, and drivers should be carefully selected and trained. Motorcade equipment should include radio communication and medical trauma kits. Vehicles should be kept in secure facilities overnight and inspected each morning for bombs. The pamphlet provides guidelines for the number and placement of motorcade vehicles as well as the number and placement of security personnel in the vehicles. Protective driving procedures are listed, and driving techniques for escaping from a roadblock ambush are described. Questions and answers on the material and 1 suggested reading.
