Abstract
THE PURPOSE AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE POLICE INTERROGATION AND INTERVIEW ARE CONTRASTED. THE OFFICER-INTERVIEWER IN A SOCIAL ACTION SITUATION IS SEEKING ENOUGH INFORMATION TO MAKE AN EVALUATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF REFERRING THE CLIENT TO SOMEONE CAPABLE OF DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM.
