This report discusses the functions of each bureau of the Detroit Police Department and highlights its accomplishments during 1980.
Abstract
Police crime prevention measures taken in Detroit during the year are outlined along with personal notes on police families and police athletic events and comments on visits by distinguished personalities to the city. The report then reviews the responsibilities of the following departmental subdivisions: the patrol bureau, the criminal investigation bureau, the internal controls bureau, the management services bureau, and the personnel bureau. Accomplishments of each of these bureaus are mentioned, and the duties of each section within the bureaus are discussed. Police statistics cover police personnel, departmental budgets, number and disposition of offenses, arrest dispositions, juvenile crime, and other issues. The report indicates that there were 130,807 Part I offenses reported to police in 1980, of which 19,847 were cleared during the year. Photographs, sketches, and tabular data are included.
