AN ESTIMATE OF THE EFFECTS OF ECONOMIC, DEMOGRAPHIC, AND SOCIOLOGICAL FACTORS, SOCIAL AGENCY PROGRAMS, AND POLICE PATROLLING ON JUVENILE ARRESTS.
Abstract
THE RESULTS INDICATE THAT 'RECREATION FACILITIES AND SETTLEMENT HOUSES HAVE NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT UPON JUVENILE ARRESTS AND CRIME.' THE AUTHORS ALSO INDICATE THAT POLICE PATROLLING PROBABLY HAS NO SIGNIFICANT EFFECT UPON THE ARREST RATE.' THE STUDY CONCLUDES THAT ELIMINATING POVERTY OR INCREASING THE INCOMES OF THE POOR WOULD DECREASE JUVENILE ARRESTS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
