Abstract
BURGLARY, ROBBERY, RAPE, AND ASSAULT OFFENDERS CAPABLE OF RESPONDING TO THEM WERE ADMINISTERED THE MINNESOTA MULTIPHASIC PERSONALITY INVENTORY, THE SELF-EVALUATION QUESTIONNAIRE, THE WESCHLER MEMORY SCALE, AND THE HAND TEST. ADDITIONAL TESTS ADMINISTERED TO A PARTIAL GROUP OF IMPACT OFFENDERS INCLUDED THE WESCHLER ADULT INTELLIGENCE SCALE, THE IPAT CULTURE FAIR TEST OF INTELLIGENCE, THE HOOPER VISUAL ORGANIZATION TEST, AND THE WIDE RANGE ACHIEVEMENT TEST. IT WAS FOUND THAT ROBBERY OFFENDERS WERE THE MOST DEVIANT AND OVERTLY DISTURBED OF THE IMPACT OFFENDERS FOLLOWED IN ORDER BY ROBBERY, ASSAULT, AND RAPE OFFENDERS. IT WAS FURTHER FOUND THAT RAPE AND THEN ASSAULT OFFENDERS WERE LIKELY TO COMMIT THE SAME OFFENSE. FINDINGS ON OTHER DEMOGRAPHIC AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS ARE ALSO PRESENTED. LIMITATIONS OF THE PRESENT STUDY ARE IDENTIFIED AND PLANS TO REPLICATE THE STUDY AFTER 18 MONTHS FOR ADDITIONAL DATA COLLECTION ARE SET FORTH.
