THIS PAPER IS THE PRODUCT OF A STUDY THAT PROBED THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DELINQUENCY AND SPORTS PARTICIPATION.
Abstract
THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE WHETHER FAILURE TO COMPLETE AN ORGANIZED SPORTS PROGRAM WAS ASSOCIATED WITH A DELINQUENT PSYCHOSOCIAL PROFILE. THE STUDY INVOLVED A POPULATION OF 11-YEAR-OLD BOYS WHO WERE ENROLLED IN A NATIONAL SUMMER YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM. IT WAS FOUND THAT BOYS WITH DELINQUENT PSYCHOSOCIAL PROFILES WERE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER-REPRESENTED AMONG THOSE WHO FAILED TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM, BUT THIS WAS NOT SAID TO BE A CAUSE-EFFECT RELATIONSHIP....BDS
