BOOK CONSTRUCTING A BIOPHYSICAL THEORETICAL FORMULATION OF CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR FROM DATA ON THE CONSTITUTIONAL, TEMPERMENTAL, MOTIVATIONAL, AND FAMILY VARIABLES IN THE PERSONALITY OF DELINQUENTS.
Abstract
THE FIRST SECTION OF THE BOOK COVERS EXPERIMENTAL CRIMINALITY. IT REPORTS THE FINDINGS OF THE AUTHORS ON SUCH TOPICS AS THE ASSOCIATION OF MESOMORPHY AND DELINQUENCY; THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSIQUE AND TEMPERAMENT; THE CORRELATION BETWEEN MESOMORPHY AND THE NEED FOR ACHIEVEMENT; AND THE INTERACTIONS AMONG BIOLOGICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, AND SOCIAL INFLUENCES ON DELINQUENCY. THE SECOND SECTION PRESENTS THE FORMULATION, WHICH ATTEMPTS TO ORGANIZE EMPIRICAL KNOWLEDGE, IDENTIFY REASONS FOR ADOPTION OF CRIMINAL PATTERNS, AND SUGGEST NEW HYPOTHESES FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OR MODIFICATION OF THE THEORY. THE LAST SECTION COVERS PRACTICAL CRIMINOLOGY AND OFFERS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE PREDICTION, CONTROL, AND PREVENTION OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
