Abstract
THE RESULTS ANTICIPATED AS AN OUTCOME OF THIS PROJECT WERE THE CENTRALIZATION OF CASE INFORMATION, THE ABILITY TO RETRIEVE CURRENT STATISTICAL DATA, THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PERMANENT INDEXES TO CASE DATA, AND COMPUTER OUTPUTS SUCH AS MONTHLY STATISTICAL REPORTS, JUDGES REPORTS, AND ATTORNEY REPORTS. THE CRIMINAL DATA BASE CONTAINS CASE AND DEFENDANT IDENTITYING INFORMATION, CO-DEFENDANT INFORMATION, AFFIANT INFORMATION AND CHARGE, CRIMINAL CASE STATUS, AND CRIMINAL SENTENCE INFORMATION. A DISTRICT MAGISTRATE CASE RECEIPT REPORTING SYSTEM WAS ALSO DEVELOPED. EVALUATION ACTIVITIES CONSISTED OF INTERVIEWS WITH PROJECT PERSONNEL, AND COLLECTION AND REVIEW OF COMPUTER PRODUCED FILES, FORMS USED, AND THE GRANT APPLICATION. SAMPLE QUESTIONNAIRES ARE APPENDED. A CONSIDERABLE BACKLOG IN ENTERING CASE INFORMATION WAS FOUND. IMPACT WAS DIFFICULT TO ASSESS SINCE THERE WAS NOT A FULLY OPERATIONAL AND UP-TO-DATE DATA BASE. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT MORE ATTENTION TO BASIC SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES WAS NEEDED. SAMPLE COMPUTER REPORTS ARE INCLUDED.
