This article describes an effective humanities education curriculum model developed for prisoners.
Abstract
A prison education curriculum was developed emphasizing man as a whole and individual person whose functioning can be impaired by earlier life experiences. This combination of group psychotherapy, literature, and sociology was effectively utilized in several summer school sessions for prisoners. From these sessions were developed training packages for staff, a participant's package, and a source book. Essential to the effective functioning of this model program is a staff from various academic disciplines who can contribute a wide range of abilities and skills. (Author abstract modified.)
