This resource guide is intended to provide basic information about cults and to make families with a member involved in a cult, current and former cult members, mental health professionals, educators, clergy, criminal justice personnel, and the public aware of workshops, publications, and videos available from the organization AFF.
AFF provides programs and project in three areas: (1) Project Recovery, which offers services for former cult members, their families, and helping professionals; (2) Project Alert, which encourages public discussions and provides preventive education; and (3) Project Discover, which conducts research and writing projects. Individual sections provide suggestions for various categories of inquirers about cults; workshop descriptions; annotated lists of periodicals, books, reports, group information, videos, preventive education materials, and reprints. The final section presents essays on the term cult, the perspective of a former cult member, the benefits of rehabilitation, cult litigation, cult characteristics, and other topics. Order form
