IMPLICATIONS FOR BRITISH PROBATION OFFICERS AND CLIENTS TO WORKING WITH MEMBERS OF THE OPPOSITE SEX.
Abstract
THE RESULTS OF A SMALL STUDY INDICATE THAT RELATIVELY FEW OFFENDERS AND JUVENILES ON PROBATION OR AFTER-CARE SERVICE ARE LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE CROSS-SEX SUPERVISION. A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF PROBLEMS THAT PROBATIONERS AND SUPERVISING OFFICERS EXPERIENCE WITH EACH OTHER AND THEIR CLIENTS MAY OCCUR IN ANY HETEROSEXUAL RELATIONSHIP - MALE-FEMALE POWER STRUGGLE, EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION, OR SEXUAL ATTRACTION.
