THE ACTIVITIES OF THE CRIMINOLOGICAL AND PENAL STUDIES SERVICE (FRANCE) ARE DESCRIBED.
Abstract
THE GOVERNMENT-FUNDED CRIMINOLOGICAL AND PENAL STUDIES SERVICE WAS ESTABLISHED IN PARIS IN 1969 UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE FRENCH JUSTICE DEPARTMENT. IT IS ' INTENDED TO RENDER FOUR BASIC SERVICES TO CRIMINOLOGY STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONALS: TO FURNISH CRIMINOLOGICAL TRAINING (ESPECIALLY IN THE FIELD OF CONTINUING EDUCATION); TO EVALUATE TEACHING INSTITUTIONS, RESEARCH CENTERS, AND RESEARCH IN PROGRESS; TO PROMOTE AND MAINTAIN RELATIONS WITH INTERNATIONAL CRIMINOLOGICAL ESTABLISHMENTS (EMPHASIZING RELATIONS WITH QUEBEC AND WITH THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL); AND TO FUND CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH. RECENTLY THE CENTER HAS FOCUSED ON THE FOLLOWING RESEARCH AREAS: (1) PUBLIC AND AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, CRIME, AND THE CRIMINAL; (2) AN ANALYSIS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, INCLUDING THE 'COST OF CRIME' AND CRIMINOLOGICAL ESTIMATING METHODS; AND (3) SOCIAL REACTION TO BUSINESS CRIME. INCORPORATED IN THE REPORT IS A LLIST OF EMPLOYEES AND THEIR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE CENTER'S TEACHING ACTIVITIES, AND A LIST OF THE TOPICS AND OF THE CHAIRMEN OF RESEARCH IN PROGRESS THAT IS FUNDED BY THE CENTER. A COMPLETE BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PUBLICATIONS SINCE THE FOUNDING OF THE CENTER IS APPENDED WHICH LISTS BOOKLENGTH STUDIES, CONTRIBUTIONS TO RESEARCH COLLECTIONS, MAGAZINE ARTICLES, CONFERENCE PAPERS, DISSERTATIONS, AND EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTS. --IN FRENCH.
