This book, the seventh in an annual series, provides attorneys and judges with ready access to all reported 1989 Federal appellate and district court opinions relating to criminal procedure as well as several 1989 noteworthy State court decisions involving criminal procedure.
Abstract
Cases involving the fourth amendment pertain to searches and seizures, electronic surveillance, and the exclusionary rule. Court decisions pertaining to the fifth amendment concern self-incrimination, grand jury proceedings, double jeopardy, and due process. Decisions stemming from the sixth amendment relate to identification practices, counsel, speedy and public trial, confrontation of witnesses, and compulsory process. Court decisions impacting pretrial proceedings address prosecutorial discretion and conduct, pretrial release, competency, joinder and severance, disclosure and discovery, time for trial, the Speedy Trial Act, and interstate agreement on detainers.
