This report presents charts and tables showing recent trends, the current status, and projections for prison populations and offenders in community corrections programs in Texas, as well as the impacts of particular corrections policies.
Abstract
The data cover changes in reported crimes, arrests, felony convictions, probation and prison admissions, and jail populations between 1980 and 1989 or 1990, as well as the expansion in the Texas prison system between 1987 and 1995 under existing policies. Data are also provided regarding diversions to community corrections programs, the use of funds in community corrections programs, each county's plans for community corrections programs, and expected baseline prison populations expected for 1991-97. Projections are also presented under possible policy changes, and a simulation model called "JUSTICE" is described. Figures, charts, and tables
