This review provides summary descriptions of Georgia's 1982 legislation which impacts the structure and operation of its criminal justice system as well as the functions of State and local governments.
Abstract
For each major piece of legislation, the review format covers the legislation's background, purposes, content, and how it affects a particular facet of the criminal justice system or governmental entities. The bills reviewed pertain to corrections (9 bills), courts (25 bills), crimes and punishment (10 bills), law enforcement (3 bills), motor vehicle offenses (11 bills), and miscellaneous criminal justice issues (27 bills). The bills are classified according to their origination in the house or senate. House and senate resolutions are also included; legislation of local interest is listed in numerical order by the originating chamber, along with the title of the act. A listing is also provided for several criminal justice bills that are more narrow in scope than statewide legislation but which may impact more widely than local legislation.
