In 1982, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board of Manitoba, Canada, has concentrated on publicizing the benefits it offers so that more eligible citizens might apply for compensation when they suffer injury from a crime.
Abstract
General information is provided on the statutory duties of the board and criteria for compensation eligibility. Following a statement of expenditures for the year ended March 31, 1983, tabular data are provided on claims disposition, approved claims, claims benefits (1974-83), and the sex, employment status, and age of persons filing claims. The location of crime occurrence by area of Province for filed claims is also indicated. Historical statistics on criminal injuries are presented.
