FINDINGS OF A FIVE-YEAR EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE ADDICTION RESEARCH CORPORATION IN REDUCING THE CRIMINAL ACITIVITY OF METHADONE PATIENTS DUE TO TREATMENT ARE PRESENTED IN THIS REPORT.
Abstract
THE FINDINGS ARE GROUPED INTO SIX MAJOR AREAS - TOTAL POPULATION CHARACTERISTICS, OVERALL CRIME REDUCTIONS CHARACTERISTICS RELATED TO PROGRAM OUTCOME, SELF-REPORTED CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM INVOLVEMENT, CRIME AND ADDICTION, AND THE RESULTS OF INDEPENDENT POLICE AND COURT STUDIES. THE FIRST CHAPTER CONTAINS A SUMMARY OF THE REPORT AND ITS MAJOR CONCLUSIONS. SUBSEQUENT CHAPTERS CONTAIN A DETAILED ACCOUNT OF THE RESEARCH DESIGN, SETTING OBJECTIVES, METHODOLOGY, AND FINDINGS. THE FINAL CHAPTER PRESENTS SOME OF THE OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS AS TO THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF METHADONE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)...EB
