THIS STUDY ANALYZES THE DYNAMICS AND PSYCHOSOCIALOGICAL MOTIVATIONS OF SEVERAL TYPES OF CRIMINAL CONDUCT BY EXAMINING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CRIMES, OFFENDERS, AND VICTIMS.
Abstract
THE CRIMES INCLUDE BOTH PROPERTY CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST PERSONS INCLUDING PETTY THEFT, FRAUD, KIDNAPPING FOR EXTORTION, SEX OFFENSES, HOMICIDE, CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE, AIRPLANE HIJACKING, STREET CRIMES AND COLLECTIVE VIOLENCE. ECONOMIC, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND SOCIAL MOTIVATIONS FOR CRIMES COMMITTED BY JUVENILE DELINQUENTS AND FEMALE OFFENDERS ARE EXPLORED. IN THE LATTER PART OF THE ESSAY, THE AUTHOR REVIEWS SOME RECENT CLINICAL-CRIMINOLOGICAL STUDIES ON RECIDIVISM WHICH LINK LOW INTELLIGENCE AND RECIDIVISM AND RECOMMENDS THAT THESE STUDIES BE SUPPLEMENTED BY ADDITIONAL RESEARCH, INTRODUCING THE CRIMINAL CAREER CONCEPT AND CONSIDERING THE RESULTS OF STUDIES ON THE LABELLING AND SOCIAL REACTION THEORIES. THE USE OF OFFENDER CLASSIFICATIONS AND TYPOLOGIES IS CRITICIZED AND AN INCREASE IN VICTIM-ORIENTED RESEARCH IS ADVOCATED AS A MEANS OF IMPROVING KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CRIME AND EFFECTING MORE ADEQUATE CRIME PEVENTION MECHANISMS. --IN ITALIAN...EB
