This report presents statistical data regarding crimes in West Virginia during 1993.
Abstract
A total of 46,033 index crimes took place during the year, including 3,788 violent crimes and 42,245 nonviolent crimes. A total of 9,189 crimes were cleared, and 9,168 arrests took place. More than $38 million worth of property was stolen. One law enforcement officer was killed, and 294 were assaulted. An index crime took place every 11.4 minutes, a murder every 2.8 days, a robbery every 11.2 hours, a forcible rape every hour, and a aggravated assault every 3.5 hours. One nonviolent crime took place every 12.4 minutes, including a burglary every 48.2 minutes, a larceny every 18.5 minutes, and a motor vehicle theft every 3 hours. Figures, tables, and maps
