This is Washington State's 16th annual report (1995) on criminal offenses, arrests, law enforcement officers killed or assaulted, and full-time law enforcement employees.
Abstract
In 1995 Index crimes in Washington State totaled 330,174 (62.2 offenses per 1,000 population); this was an increase of 4.6 percent over those reported in 1994. Property valued at $279,590,577 was reported stolen in 1995. Of this amount, $111,769,947 (40 percent) was recovered; the property stolen constituted a 15.1-percent increase over 1994. There was one officer killed feloniously during 1995. There was a 21.3-percent clearance rate for all Index crimes reported in 1995. A total of 251,243 arrests were made in 1995, a 0.03-percent increase over 1994. There were 16,700 reported drug-abuse arrests, and there were 12,315 full-time law enforcement employees; commissioned officers increased 2.1 percent over 1994. Data collection on domestic violence began July 1, 1995. There were a total of 20,338 offenses reported by 214 law enforcement agencies.
