The increasing trends in crime have attracted attention from various quarters. Efforts have been made to look into the causes of the increasing trends in crime. The rate of urban growth has been considered to be an important factor in stimulating crime. The present paper is an endeavour to explore the possibility of nexus between crime and rate of urbanisation in the country.
Abstract
The analysis of the crime-data and rate of urban growth do indicate that urbanisation influences nature and extent of crime. This also brings out that higher the rate of urban growth the more possibility of violent crime and lower the rate of urbanisation is likely to produce more property crimes. (Author abstract)
