Abstract
Narrative comments and tabular data are provided for the offenses of murder and non-negligent manslaughter, aggravated assault, forcible rape, robbery, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. Data on each offense covers offense by month and offenses committed from 1972 through 1976. Data for murder include victim-offender sex and race; weapon; victim-offender relationship; and victim age, sex, and race. Data on crime in general cover 1967 through 1976. Data on 1976 crime encompasses crime in cities with over 10,000 inhabitants, crime at universities, suburban counties, rural counties over 25,000 in population, and crime trends by population groups. Crimes cleared by arrest are presented by population groups, geographic division, by offense, and by persons under 18 years of age. Arrests and arrest trends are shown by sex, age, and race as well as by city, suburban, and rural populations. Tables also address the disposition of persons charged and police disposition of juveniles taken into custody. Police personnel data include the number of law enforcement employees, officers assaulted, officers killed, and persons identified in the killing of police officers.
