This report presents statistics on Uniform Crime Reports Index offenses reported to Hawaii's police in the first 9 months of 1983 as well as statistics on such offenses reported in the first 9 months of 1981 and 1982.
Abstract
The Index offenses encompassed in the report are criminal homicide and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, and auto theft. Aggregate trends in reported Index Crimes for the first 9 months of 1983 are compared with the same period in 1982. A similar comparison is made on trends in violent and nonviolent crimes. One statistical table presents the number of Index offenses reported to the police for the first 9 months of 1983, according to county. Another table shows the rate of change in violent crimes and nonviolent crimes for the same period compared to the first 9 months in 1981 and 1982. Four tables show the aggregate numbers of Index offenses reported for the first 9 months of years 1981-83. The concluding table indicates the percent change in violent and nonviolent crimes by county for the first 9 months of 1982 and 1983. Two charts portray the frequency of each of the Index offenses for 1982 and 1983. A special report analyzes shoplifting trends in the United States and Hawaii for 1975-82.
